As sensors become cheaper and networks become ubiquitous, the demand will grow for technologies that fuse inputs from disparate sensors to detect, track, and identify objects of interest. SET engineers have developed a flexible multisensor testbed that allows our customers to cost effectively explore and validate multisensor fusion concepts. The transportable testbed is designed around a modular software and hardware infrastructure that facilitates plug-and-play operations for many different sensor types and application software. Our testbed sensor suite includes video cameras, infrared cameras, millimeter wave radar, hyperspectral cameras, and laser rangefinders. All sensor data and metadata are co-registered and captured to a central database that allows efficient search and retrieval. We have used the testbed to inexpensively collect large amounts of laboratory and field data which our engineers then analyzed to identify potentially valuable signal processing and sensor fusion approaches.
